# zicula-course-platform-kit — free sample

Two real files from the full kit (31 files), each **trimmed to taste** — enough
to judge the quality, not enough to launch a course platform:

- `checkout-excerpt.js` — the Stripe checkout module from the kit
(`app/lib/checkout.js`, 97 lines) cut in half: the webhook signature
verification is complete and unmodified — the constant-time HMAC check that
decides whether a payment notification really came from Stripe, plus the
buyer-email extractor. The Checkout Session creation is stubbed with a note
pointing at where it lives. Paste your webhook secret and test payload in
and this half actually runs: `node --check checkout-excerpt.js`.
- `authoring-course-json.md` — the heart of `docs/authoring.md`: the
course.json schema with the field-by-field table, the same JSON shape every
course in the kit is declared with. The rest of the doc (lesson Markdown
powers, video embeds, access modes, scaffolding) is summarized at the end.

What the full kit adds (the other 29 files):

- The platform itself: `app/server.js` plus five modules — content loader and
Markdown renderer, JSON-file store with signed-cookie sessions, Stripe
Checkout + webhook, email delivery (Resend or outbox mode), and the
server-rendered pages. Node 18+, standard library only — nothing to npm install
- A runnable demo course: 2 modules, 5 lessons you can enroll in within two
minutes (access code LAUNCH2026), with progress tracking and drip schedules
- Three email templates (welcome, receipt, drip reminder) and two scripts —
  a preflight check and a new-course scaffold
- Six documents: six-chapter SETUP, authoring, Stripe setup (Payment Link /
Checkout Session + webhook + Stripe Tax), email hooks, deploy (VPS / Docker /
  PaaS), troubleshooting
- Five screenshots of real kit files (README-buyer, SETUP, a demo lesson,
  checkout.js, the deploy guide)
